Position Summary
The Clovis Community College TRiO Upward Bound Program provides college preparatory services for high school students.
The program is federally funded to serve 55 students from Clovis High School and the Freshman Academy in Clovis, New Mexico.
Upward Bound is currently seeking Instructors for Enrichment Saturday Workshops and our Summer On-Campus Program.
All participants attend Enrichment Saturday workshops once a month during the academic year, (September - May).
The subjects covered during Enrichment Saturday’s are Writing, Science, Computers, Math, and ACT Prep.
Lessons are designed to engage students in hands-on activities that will require critical thinking.
The summer component of Upward Bound, called the Summer-on-Campus Program consists of an intensive, five week academic program of interactive, project-based classes held at Clovis Community College that are designed to help develop the skills necessary for success in college.
Classes will have 10-12 students.
Instructors may be invited to teach extra Thursday classes during the Summer-on-Campus Program depending on availability and desire.

ENRICHMENT SATURDAY INSTRUCTOR DUTIES:
• Create and implement a lesson plan for the appropriate subject (All lesson plans must be approved by the Academic Services Coordinator or Project Director)
• Provide a list of supplies.
• Provide interactive classroom and lab instruction (if needed).
• Actual class time is approx.

SUMMER ON CAMPUS INSTRUCTOR DUTIES:
• Create and implement a syllabus for the appropriate subject (template provided).
• All curriculum is expected to be built by the instructor with guidelines from the Academic Services Coordinator.
• Modify curriculum to follow the summer program theme: Find Your Direction with Upward Bound • Provide a list of supplies.
• Provide interactive classroom and lab instruction (if needed).
• Monitor and record student performance on a weekly basis (grade sheet template provided).
• Participate in the summer instructor orientation, all pre-program preparation meetings.
• In-class work is preferred.
Homework is not encouraged.
• Actual class time is between 1 and 1.
5 hours, depending on subject.
Requires frequent and continuous moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 20 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, in a related discipline is preferred.
Ability to adequately teach subject area to high school students, using creative teaching methods; successful work experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring; demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of potential first
generation college and low income students.
