Compensation: $44,549 – $48,781 Compensation Type: Salary Employment Type: Grade: E07 Department: Instruction Position Summary THIS IS A 9 MONTH FACULTY CONTRACT.
COMPENSATION IS ISSUED OVER A 12 MONTH PERIOD.
(Summer classes are paid on a per credit hour basis and not part of the 9-month contract.
Full-time Instructor in Esthetics/Nail Technician with theory and clinical teaching duties under the supervision of the Division Chair of Occupational Technology.
Duties & Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare and teach courses in Esthetics and Nail Technician as part of the full-time program.
In collaboration with other members of the division, provide curricular expertise for the program including but not limited to esthetic and nail tech theory, sterilization and sanitation, manicuring/pedicuring, nail enhancement, advanced theory of massage and facial treatments, use of specialized machines for skin treatment, hair removal, eyelash and brow tinting, and client consultation.
Teach the skills, routines, health and safety aspects, ethics and advisable business practices germane to preparation for certification as a licensed Esthetician and Nail Technician in the State of New Mexico.
Following NM Board requirements, determine learning objectives and assess student attainment of objectives.
The assignment involves didactic instruction as well as management and supervision of laboratory activities on the clinic floor.
Serve as program contact with manufacturers and industry educators including arranging for continuing education opportunities on campus and in surrounding communities.
Responsible for overseeing externship program working closely with local estheticians and nail technicians for placement of students.
Order and maintain inventory of class supplies, clinic products, and student kits.
Help with daily scheduling for clinic.
Maintain daily upkeep of clinic.
Develop and submit course syllabi for all assigned courses, ensuring inclusion of all required components.
Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to develop and revise curriculum, select textbooks and equipment, create instructional materials, and ensure cohesive and uniform student assessment practices.
Establish and maintain an effective learning environment across assigned courses.
Utilizing course assessment practices, assess and communicate student proficiency in achieving course learning outcomes.
Document findings in formal assessment reports as directed by the Assessment Council and the Executive Vice President.
Utilize technology, including but not limited to Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, and the Internet, for classroom, studio, and laboratory instruction.
Provide students with timely and accurate information and feedback regarding their academic progress, using assessments such as quizzes, tests, homework, and projects.
Throughout each contracted academic semester, maintain a daily on-campus presence from Monday to Thursday and ensure a minimum of 5 in-person office hours per week to assist students with questions, tutoring, and instructional clarification.
Schedule office hours based on student requirements rather than faculty convenience.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all college policies and procedures.
Perform all faculty responsibilities, encompassing teaching, faculty service, participation in in-services, evaluating student academic achievement, participating in professional development activities, and contributing to orientations, committees, councils, and other assigned duties.
Full-time faculty positions at Clovis Community College require a physical presence on campus to fulfill teaching duties, conduct office hours, and fulfill other college-related responsibilities, as they are not fully remote.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and occasional reaching above the shoulders and lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to chemicals consistent with cosmetology clinic.
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Typical schedule is Monday from 8am to 5pm; Tuesday-Thursday from 8am to 4:30pm.
However, hours vary based on course requirements.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a licensed Cosmetologist or a Cosmetologist Instructor licensed by the State of New Mexico or teach on a Provisional license for not more than one year.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Minimum three years full-time practice as a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Esthetician and Nail Technician Previous teaching experience helpful.
